5Ts: Grow Your Faith. Share Your Gifts.

Stewardship is … leaving a legacy for future generations through sound management and protection of financial assets and resources. Stewardship is not just about the commitment of financial resources — it’s also the commitment of how we manage and use the gifts from God:

  • Recognizing that all things belong to God.
  • Being responsible and accountable for the resources, gifts, and opportunities entrusted to us.
  • Using these gifts to serve others and further God’s purposes.
  • Practicing generosity and giving back to God and the community.

Stewardship comes from the Bible. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 and Deuteronomy 15:7-8 encourage giving and generosity, emphasizing that those who sow sparingly will also reap sparingly. Mark 12:41-44 highlights the importance of giving from the heart, even when resources are limited.

Prayerfully discern how you’re doing in the 5Ts below:

The 5 Ts of stewardship:

Time, Talents, Treasure, Temple, and Testimony. These represent key areas where individuals are called to be responsible and accountable for the gifts they have been given and can share.

Time

This refers to the precious gift of time we have each day. Stewardship of time involves making conscious choices about how we spend our time, prioritizing activities that align with our values and goals, and using time wisely for personal growth, relationships, and service to others.

Talents

Everyone possesses unique talents and abilities. Stewardship of talents involves recognizing, developing, and using these gifts for the betterment of ourselves and others. This could involve using skills in a professional capacity, pursuing hobbies, or volunteering time to help those in need.

Treasure

This encompasses all material possessions, including finances. Stewardship of treasure involves managing resources responsibly, being generous with giving, and avoiding greed or excessive accumulation.

Temple

This refers to our physical bodies, which are often considered temples or vessels for the Holy Spirit in some religious contexts. Stewardship of the temple involves taking care of our health, both physically and mentally, making healthy choices, and avoiding harmful substances.

Testimony

This refers to our witness and how we share our faith or beliefs with others. Stewardship of testimony involves living a life that reflects our values, speaking truth and kindness, and inspiring others through our actions and words.
