Ok, lets talk about the one person that no one shall speak of: Donald Trump. Now I know that I am about to get hate mail for just bringing up his name because either I didn’t curse him as the scum of the earth or I didn’t adequately praise him as the only one who can pull us out the mess we are in. Today, I am doing neither of these things, so before you send your corrections and responses, please read the whole article.
Trump is under indictment, again. And let’s be honest, who is surprised? No one is. His detractors are so convinced he is guilty of something that they will charge him with jaywalking if they have to. His supporters believe he can do no wrong and is being persecuted because of his politics. Spoiler alert: neither side is right. But I have a few things I want to point out about this latest indictment.
Trump has been indicted and is being prosecuted for taking classified documents from the White House when he left office. This is a crime. A crime that a lot of past presidents have committed, yet for some reason I notice that Trump is the only one who is not getting away with it. A lot of ink has been used to express a lot of opinion as to why Trump is the first indictment of a former president. But I am going to tell you why he is the only one indicted and honestly, no matter which side of this Trump is the savior/antichrist argument you are on, you have to agree with me. The reason that Trump is indicted on this is because he thumbed his nose at the establishment.
Think what you want about Trump, but he is not a stupid man. He is well aware that his enemies are salivating at the chance to indict him. And that is my frustration with this. He knew they were not going to leave any stone unturned in investigating him, so why didn’t he just give the documents back? Trump had no nefarious intention with these documents. Honestly, they were probably safer in Mara Lago because as soon as they found the classified documents, the FBI took pictures and posted everything they found. He knew they would not stop until he was indicted, so why draw a bullseye on yourself?
What I am scared to death this is going to turn into is a “vote for Trump for vindication.” If this is the way it is headed, and Trump is going to turn 2024 into a revenge tour, I cannot imagine it is going to go well. His haters are going to hate him no matter what (they have already impeached him twice). Do you know how many times he could be impeached with four more years? His enemies can’t help themselves; they are going to impeach on anything. What I fear is that Trump will spend the remainder of this campaign thumbing his nose at them and doing all he can to trigger them on purpose.
I have to admit, I hate the deep state so much, it would be fun to watch them go full on meltdown over his election, but is that an effective way to lead a country? I want a president who is going to do what is right, not one who is going to go do all he can to poke those people in the eye.
Since I have offended Trump fans, I will go ahead and alienate the other side. There is no way I would vote for a Democrat in any election for anything. Just last week, Joe Biden’s White House didn’t seem to know which flag is supposed to hang front and center on the White House. That should never have happened, and it makes no difference to me what the flag in the middle represented. The place of prominence at the White House belongs only to the stars and stripes, and I would not vote for any party who failed to understand that.
I am not telling you who to vote for, and I am not telling you who to vote against. I am just inviting you to consider what is in front of you. This is where I come down on these issues. We are about to enter a crazy upcoming year. This is going to be the United States most vicious and brutal presidential campaign we have ever had. The only reason I can say that is because it is going to be worse than the last one, which is currently the worst we ever had.
I am tired of egos and personalities and agendas. I want honesty and integrity, and the fact that this sounds like a joke should upset us all. Yes, I want candidates vetted and tested, but I want that to happen on a stage in a debate, not a courtroom. However, due to the political climate, I am afraid that is exactly where we are heading.
