Hunter Biden Pardon

This is Pastor Tim’s article which appeared in the Evening Leader on Tuesday, Dec 10, 2024

So in the least surprising twist ever, Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter.  Even after claiming for years that he would not do it, last week, Biden issued a pardon to his son.  Here is the actual text of the pardon:

“For those offenses against the United States which he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024, including but not limited to all offenses charged or prosecuted (including any that have resulted in convictions) by Special Counsel David C. Weiss in Docket No. 1:23-cr-00061-MN in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware and Docket No. 2:23-CR-00599-MCS-1 in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.”

Yes, Hunter Biden is pardoned for anything and everything he did for one month shy of an entire decade.

I want to make a few comments about what I suspect is happening here, but let me say right up front, Joe Biden had no choice but to do this.  I don’t like it; I think that Hunter probably should not have been an international criminal.  I believe there are a lot of unanswered questions about what Hunter was doing over the last 10 years.  But the fact that a Father prevented his son from going to prison for the rest of his life is not a shocking development and anyone who is acting surprised that it happened is not being honest.  Joe Biden lied about not pardoning his son, how unexpected could that possibly have been?

Given the new standard of prosecuting politicians that has been normalized the past 3 years, Hunter was in deep trouble.  It doesn’t matter if you believe that Trump is as pure as the new driven snow or if you think that Trump is the Antichrist, the fact of the matter is that we now live in a world where we are not afraid to prosecute politicians.  That line has been crossed and there is no uncrossing it now.  Which means I can say the same thing about Hunter.  No matter if you believe he is an innocent victim or if he is the Antichrist, he was going to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Which is exactly why Biden had to pardon him.  Hunter was the shortest distance to an indictment against Joe Biden on any number of questionable things that have happened.  I have no proof, but you better believe everything about everything is going to be gone over with a fine-tooth comb and if Joe Biden has any skeletons in his closet, they are going to be found by applying pressure to Hunter.

While I have no doubt that Joe Biden loves his son, I do not believe that is the only reason for the pardon.  I believe that Biden is also protecting himself.  Now that we have a standard for prosecuting politicians, where does that end?  I want to look forward.  I want to think about the future with optimism and it is going to be impossible to do that if all we want to do is prosecute past political figures.

In my humble opinion, the past 4 years have been a disaster and while there are some players in this drama that need to be held accountable, I am tired of all of the fighting and accusations.  I am to the point that I barely care anymore and I follow this stuff pretty closely.  I want to move forward.  I know that many of you are not happy with the results of the election, but we are here now.  With the election of Joe Biden 4 years ago, our country took a big swing in one direction and as elections tend to do, we are about to swing in the other for better or for worse.

As I have said many times, I am a single-issue voter.  I like not killing babies, which means I am not overly thrilled with either candidate, but Trump’s stance is less bad.  The fact that saving babies is not a slam dunk political issue does not speak well for our country.

But what I am sure of is the amount of time and energy it would take to figure out what crimes Joe Biden may or may not be guilty of could be spent in a more productive way.  Let’s streamline and cut federal bureaucracy so that the government can get back to serving the American people.  I would much rather we have a functioning government than get convictions against the Biden family.
